Established by Gibraltar Act of Parliament to ensure compensation cover in the event of default by licensed financial institution providing prescribed services.

Any auditor wishing to undertake such activity in Gibraltar must be registered with the ARB as establish by Act of Parliament.

The Board is charged with administering the Gibraltar Deposit Guarantee Scheme and is independent from the Financial Services Commission or Government of Gibraltar. The Scheme covers qualifying depositors in Gibraltar regulated banks.
